God the Father gives good gifts, it turns out: the Holy Spirit, best of all (Luke 11:11–13).  But some people just could­n’t — or perhaps, would­n’t — rec­og­nize the finger of God (Giver of good gifts!), even when it pretty much poked them in the eye (11:14–20).  Matthew tries not to be one of them.
